“Genjlik” Student Sports Volunteer Society, as the successor of the “Burevestnik” Student Sports Society founded in 1936, has been operating independently since 1987. Functioning under the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Sports Organizations Association, “Genjlik” engages students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions in various sports activities during extracurricular hours, contributing to their physical development, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the improvement of their athletic skills.

Since 1995, the organization, in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Science and Education, has been organizing the Republic Universiade and other mass sports events in accordance with an approved annual calendar. Between 1995 and 2025, 15 Republic Universiades, 15 Spartakiads, and 221 national championships have been held, with the participation of over 58,000 student-athletes.

“Genjlik” has been a member of FISU since 1999 and joined EUSA in 2008. From July 17–25, 2025, our team proudly represented Azerbaijan at the European Universities Futsal Championship held in Zagreb, Croatia, organized by EUSA, and won the gold medal.

In total, our student-athletes have proudly represented our country on the international stage by winning 17 gold, 16 silver, and 22 bronze medals. The organization continues to cooperate with state and non-state sports institutions to ensure student participation in international competitions and to contribute to the development of student sports in Azerbaijan.
