Ganja Basketball Club (Ganja BK) is a professional basketball club representing the city of Ganja, Azerbaijan. The club was founded in 2019 and currently plays in the Azerbaijan Basketball League. In a short period of time, Ganja BK has gained a unique place in the country's basketball and attracted attention with its successful results. From the first day of its establishment, the team has chosen a development-oriented strategy and formed a competitive team with the unity of local and foreign basketball players.
Historical achievements
One of the greatest successes of Ganja Basketball Club is winning the Azerbaijan Cup in 2023. This victory was not only an important milestone in the club's history, but also demonstrated the power of Ganja basketball at the national level.
A new stage
The next important step in the club's development was taken in 2025. That year, the management of Ganja BK was transferred to the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers, and the club became a member of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Sports Organizations Association. These steps have greatly contributed to the institutional development of the club, the expansion of cooperation in the field of sports, and the opening of new prospects.
Coaching Corps
Currently, the team is led by Turkish head coach Halil Altın and is distinguished by its modern basketball style, disciplined play and high fighting spirit, which allows Ganja BC to perform stably and ambitiously in the league. The team's assistant coaches are Rizvan Safarov, Honored Coach of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honored Physical Education and Sports Worker, who has made a great and undeniable contribution to the development of Ganja basketball, who has made this sport popular among children, teenagers and young people, as well as specialists from Turkey Yusuf Aydilek and Mustafa Yıldız.
Current season indicators
The club has strengthened its squad by attracting many foreign and local basketball players, including players from the National team, in the current season. Currently, Ganja BC is in 4th place in Group A of the Azerbaijan Basketball League and continues to fight for the playoffs. In the Azerbaijan Cup, the team successfully performed and reached the 1/4 final stage.
