Chess
Chess is a strategic and intellectual board game played between two players under special rules. The goal is to checkmate the opponent’s king.
Main features:
• The game is played on a chessboard consisting of 64 squares with 16 pieces per player
• The main objective is to checkmate the opponent’s king (put it in a position with no escape)
• Each player has either white or black pieces
• Pieces include: king, queen, rooks, bishops, knights, and pawns
• Chess is played in classical as well as rapid and blitz formats
Ways to win:
• Checkmate – leaving the king without defense
• Resignation – when a player stops the game
• Time expiration – in timed games when the opponent’s time runs out
• Technical result – due to rule violations or technical reasons
