Employee of the AHIITA participated in the "Kuru Kechek" open water swimming competition in the city of Mingachevir

On August 28, 2025, as part of the expedition organized under the leadership of the mountaineering coach of the Association of Trade Unions and Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan (AHIITA), Sirkhan Mammadov, our mountaineers successfully climbed Mount Kazbek (5054 m) in Georgia. The expedition team consisted of 6 Azerbaijani mountaineers and an additional group of 3 people from Turkey. Despite the strong wind, cold and severe weather conditions, the participants, who overcame the long and difficult route, once again proved their endurance and willpower by conquering the mountain. This mountaineering trip was not only a sporting success, but also the embodiment of international friendship and solidarity. On behalf of AHIITA, we would like to thank the expedition team, especially the friends who joined from Turkey. Their participation made the trip even more meaningful and memorable.

Elnur Mammadov, a member of the AHIITA Mountaineering Team, successfully represented Azerbaijan at the international X-WATERS Volga open water swimming festival held in Nijniy Novgorod, Russia, on July 26, 2025.

As part of the event, Elnur Mammadov successfully covered the 5.5 – kilometer distance organized against the backdrop of the strong current of the Volga River and changeable weather conditions, demonstrating both his physical strength and high endurance.

It should be noted that Elnur Mammadov has previously achieved a number of international successes completed the Bosphorus and Dardanelles strait swimming marathons held in Turkey and is considered one of the most prestigious open water competitions in the world.

This result is both an individual achievement of Elnur Mammadov and a clear example of our country’s recognition in the international arena in the field of sports. As AHIITA, we congratulate our team member on this success and wish him new heights in his future sports activities.

On July 19 within the framework of the “Gabala- Sport Capital 2025” project, a hiking trip to the Gazan Waterfall located in the village of Vandam, Gabala region, was organized by the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation.

The main goal of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle, increase environmental awareness and introduce the natural beauties of the region. The route, which started from the village of Vandam, convered a distance of approximately 6 kilometres,covering forested and mountainous areas. Safety rule were fully observed during the hike, which was rated as moderately difficult.

Faig Mursagulov and Etibar Mammadov mountaineering trainers of the AHIITA ,actively participated in the hike and demonstrated their professionalism.

It should be noted be noted that the AHIITA team was the first group to successfully complete this route with difficult terrain! During the walk, participants were informed about respectful approach to nature and ecological rules of behavior. This project, carried out with the accompaniment of experienced guides, is a valuable contribution to the development of the region’s sports and ecotourism potential.

The PamirExpedition2025 project, led by the mountaineering coach of the AHIITA , Shirkhan Mammadov, is continuing successfully.

The goal of this magnificent expedition is to conquer Lenin Peak (7134m) located in the Pamir mountain range of Kyrgyzstan.The first two stages of the acclimatization program within the expedition have been successfully completed:

*In the 1st stage, the participants made technical ascents to two separate peaks higher that 4000 meters, ensuring the body’s adaptation to altitude.

*In the 2nd stage, a march to Camp 1 located at 4400 meters took place and a successful acclimatization ascent to Yukhin Peak ( 5130 m) was carried out.

These acclimatization stages play a key role in the safe and planned continuation of the expedition. The body’s adaptation to altitude and physical fitness are the guarantee of a safe ascent to the summit.

The expedition continues as planned with a professional approach and high-level preparation. Although the path to the summit is not easy, Shirkhan Mammadov and his team are ready to overcome the challenges ahead with determination, willpower and experience.

We wish all participants and coach Shirkhan success! Steps are being taken to raise the flag of Azerbaijan at an altitude of 7134 meters!

On July 9-10, a group of 4 people led by Shirkhan Mammadov,  a mountaineering coach of the AHIITA successfully climbed the highest point of our country- “Bazarduzu Peak” , which is 4.466 meters high.

Despite difficult and foggy weather conditions, the climb was completed in full compliance with safety regulations, and each of the participants managed to climbo to the summit.

The next goal is even higher. On July 12, Shirkhan Mammadov  set off for a hike to Lenin peak, a 7.134 meter peak in the Pamir mountain range of Kyrgyzstan.

A magnificent hiking trip was held on 8 June in the Altiaghaj National Reserve, organized by the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation, with the support of the State Tourism Agency and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

50 participants in the event explored the fascinating nature along a 12-kilometer route, both relaxing and contributing to a healthy lifestyle. The beautiful weather and the spirit of the holiday made the participants journey even more meaningful.

The mountaineers of the AHIITA also actively participated in this trip, once again demonstrating their commitment to nature and the importance they attach to physical activity.

Before the event, the participants were informed about safety and the rules of conduct in mountainous areas. This educational and inspiring day will remain a pleasant memory in the memory of each participant.

At the end of the trip, the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation expressed its gratitude and noted that such ecological events will continue in the following holidays and weekends.

A group of mountaineers from the AHIITA climbed to the “Heydar Peak” located at an  altitude of 3.751 meters in the Gizilgaya mountain range of the Gusar region, to mark the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth!

Despite challenging weather and difficult terrain, the team demonstrated strong determination and willpower,successfully reaching the summit.

This climb stands as a tribute to the revered memory of the National Leader and a powerful example of the spirit of perseverance that continues to inspire young people.
