The futsal competitions of the European Universities Games – Salerno 2026, held in Salerno, Italy, from 15 to 25 July, have concluded.
Representing Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Sports Academy (ASA) futsal team finished the tournament with a silver medal. The team's participation was organized by the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation (ATFF) with the support of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Sports Organizations Association (AHIITA), the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Education Workers (ETİHİ), and the Azerbaijan Sports Academy.
In the final match, the Azerbaijani team faced the University of Split from Croatia. After an intense contest, regular time ended in a 3–3 draw. The winner was determined by a penalty shootout, where the Croatian side prevailed 4–3 to claim the championship title. The Azerbaijan Sports Academy team earned the silver medal in this prestigious tournament.
In addition, Azerbaijan Sports Academy student Adalat Alakbarov was named one of the Top Five Players of the Tournament, receiving an individual award for his outstanding performance.
