The “Healthy Colleague” mini-football tournament, jointly organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (AHIK) and the Association of Trade Union Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan (AHIITA), has officially started.
The competition, bringing together teams from AHIK member organizations, began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, AHIK Deputy Chairman Gazanfar Abdullayev highlighted the sports policy established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He spoke about the development of physical education and sports in the country, the creation of modern sports infrastructure, and the extensive opportunities provided for athletes. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan is now one of the world’s leading sports centers and successfully hosts prestigious international sporting events.
The AHIK Deputy Chairman noted that the “Healthy Colleague” mini-football tournament aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen solidarity and team spirit among colleagues, and ensure productive leisure activities.
During the event, athletes from AHIITA’s sports sections demonstrated exemplary sports performances.
Following the ceremony, the first matches of the tournament commenced. A total of 17 teams are competing in four groups.
The tournament will conclude with the final match on July 10.
