A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation with representatives of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF)

The event was attended by Nigar Vahabzade, Advisor to the Chairman of the , Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers , Farrukh Mahmudov, Executive Vice President of the ABF, and other officials.

The meeting discussed the directions of activity and development plans of the “Ganja” basketball club. According to the final decision, the management of the club was entrusted to the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers. The main factor in taking this step is the successful results shown by the club in the last three seasons. Thus, the team reached the final of the Azerbaijan Basketball League in the 2022/23 season and won the Azerbaijan Cup in that season. In the last season, continuing its successful performance, it was promoted from Group B to Group A.

Another factor that strengthens the development prospects of the club is the fact that Ganja is the second largest city in the country, an important industrial, commercial and cultural center. Also, the fact that the CIS Games will be held here this year and the high interest of the city's population in sports provide additional incentives for the club's future successes.

It should be noted that starting from the 2025/26 season, the "Ganja" Basketball Club will operate under the management of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers, a member organization of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the issue of the club's membership to the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Sport Organozations Association.
