On March 8, the second round of the “Talent Selection” U-17 judo tournament concluded at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex. A total of 265 athletes (222 boys and 43 girls) from 64 clubs and sports organizations participated in the competition.
AHİİTA judoka Gyzylgul Akbarova (57 kg) delivered an outstanding performance and won the gold medal.
We congratulate our athlete and her personal coach, honored coach Matanat Suleymanova, and wish them continued success.
It should be noted that the aim of the “Talent Selection” tournament is to strengthen the foundation of the national team, identify promising athletes for the national squad, and build a sustainable reserve base.
According to the final ranking of the two rounds, the top 4 athletes in each weight category will be selected for the “Future Hopes” training program.
