With the support of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, and the joint organization of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers, the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Sport Organizations Association and the Youth Voluntary Student Sports Society, the “Zafar” chess tournament was held among students of higher education institutions.
The tournament took place on October 26, 2025 at the Baku Sports Palace, and students representing 14 higher education institutions participated in the competition. A total of 28 teams, one male and one female team from each higher education institution, competed.
The “Zafar” tournament is a symbol of the historical Victory won by our people for freedom, unity and national pride. The moral value carried by this name reflects the main idea of the competition, serves to keep the spirit of victory alive among young people and demonstrate the intellectual potential of Azerbaijani youth.
The goal of the tournament is to develop students' intellectual skills, strengthen logical and strategic thinking skills, as well as strengthen friendship and cooperation between young people.
At the end of the competition, the winning teams were awarded diplomas, medals and souvenirs.

2nd place – Azerbaijan University of Languages
3rd place – Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction
