The flag bearers of Azerbaijan have been determined at the opening ceremony of the III CIS Games to be held at the Ganja city stadium on September 28. The Azerbaijani flag will be carried by karate player Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo player Zemfira Hasanzade.
Asiman Gurbanli, an athlete of the Association of Trade Unions Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan (AHIITA), is one of the most titled athletes who will participate in the games. He is a three-time European champion, winner of the 2019 II European Games and the III Islamic Solidarity Games, as well as a silver medalist of the 2011 World Championship.
Zemfira Hasanzade is the bronze medalist of the European Championship in Olympic weight categories and the European champion among youths.
It should be noted that the opening ceremony of the III MDB Games will take place on September 28, and the closing ceremony will take place on October 8 in Ganja. The competitions will be held at 12 sports venues in the cities of Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol and Khankendi.
