The International Labor Organization (ILO) is holding a scientific and practical conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on the topic "The Role of Trade Unions in Promoting International Labor Standards: International Practice and the Experience of Uzbekistan."
Representatives of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation are also represented at the event, which was attended by Luc Triangle, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, Ergun Atalay, Chairman of the Turkic States Trade Union Organization, Maria Helena Andre, Director of the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ILO-ACTRAV), and trade union leaders from various countries.
During the panel discussions held within the conference on the topic "Strategy and approaches of national trade union centers in promoting international labor standards", Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, spoke about the Azerbaijani trade union model, implemented projects, and applied innovations.
It was noted that Azerbaijani trade unions base their activities in regulating labor relations on the basis of social dialogue with the government and employers. Every three years, a General Collective Bargaining Agreement is signed between the Government, the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations. This document ensures the coordination of the positions and directions of action of the parties in labor relations.
The Chairman of the Confederation also provided information on the recent work and planned measures in the field of the application of international labor standards in our country, the importance of collective agreements, as well as more reliable protection of labor rights.
