Opening ceremony of the III CIS Games to be held in Ganja

The official opening ceremony of the III CIS Games will take place today at the Ganja city stadium. The event will start at 19:00.

The flag of Azerbaijan will be carried by karate player Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo player Zemfira Hasanzadeh at the opening ceremony.

A total of 1,624 athletes and 2,337 representatives from 13 countries participated in the competition, which started on September 26. Azerbaijan is represented by 340 athletes in the tournament. Other participating countries include Russia (262), Uzbekistan (254), Belarus (240), Kazakhstan (147), Tajikistan (144), Kyrgyzstan (126), Turkmenistan (48), Turkey (38), Cuba (11), Kuwait (6), Pakistan (4) and Oman (4).

The Association of Trade Unions and Sports Organizations of Azerbaijan (AHIITA) is represented by 15 athletes in 6 sports at this prestigious tournament.

The III CIS Games will conclude on October 8 at the Ganja city stadium.
